Assessment of Patient:

Position the bed at an appropriate height for transfer.

Ensure wheelchair or stretcher wheels are locked before moving.
Lifting Considerations:
Use assessment tools to gauge the required assistance level.
If patient weight exceeds 35 pounds for one person, request additional staff help.
Technique:
Support the patient properly during the move.
Avoid pulling on the patient's arms or legs during transfer.
