Viruses
Capsid: Protein coat, found on viruses.
Lytic cycle: - Virus replicating in a host that causes lyses so the virus can infect more cells. -Genetic material is made apart of the host.
Lysogenic cycle: -Virus replicating in a host w/o killing the host immediately. -Genetic material is incorporated into host’s DNA. -When divided, the OG DNA + viral DNA is copied so daughter cell has the viral DNA.
Host: An organism used to feed another.
Virus: A non living molecule that consists of genetic material (RNA or DNA), capsid,
Viruses can remain dormant, but will be reawakened if a lytic cycle begins.
Viruses cannot be treated by antibiotics.
Viruses NEED a host to reproduce, and have no metabolism, cytoplasm, or organelles.
Viruses do mutate, but only if the host cell makes a mistake when copying viral DNA.
