Tissues

Definition : A group of cells that are similar in structure and work together to achieve a particular function is called a tissue.

Importance of Tissues

  1. The workload of an individual cell decreases.

  2. Helps in forming more organized organs and organ systems.

  3. Formation of tissues causes division of labour.*

  4. Higher survival of multicellular organisms due to improved body organization and higher efficiency of functions.


Division of Labor : It is described as when a specific group of cells work together to perform a particular function.
