  • Once a highway robber, Al-Fudail Ibn Iyad would seek fortune by holding up caravans. However, a verse he heard one day shifted him.

  • One night, he read and reflected on verse 16 of Surat Al-Hadid (AlamyaniilladdinaaamanuwataaqqmilikirhinahiAlam yaniil laddina 'aamanu wa ta'aqqmiliki rhinahi), which stated, “Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah?”
