Donut Recipe Notes
Dough Preparation
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1/2 tablespoon yeast
3 tablespoons sugar
Pinch of salt
2 egg yolks
3/4 cup warm milk
2 tablespoons butter
Mixing:
Combine dry ingredients (flour, yeast, sugar, salt) in a mixing bowl.
Add egg yolks, warm milk, and butter.
Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Kneading:
Knead the dough by hand for 5-6 minutes.
First Rise:
Let the dough rise until it doubles in size.
Punching Down:
Punch down the risen dough to release air.
Shaping the Donuts
Rolling:
Transfer the dough to a floured surface.
Roll out the dough.
Cutting:
Use a mug or doughnut cutter to cut circular shapes from the dough.
Re-roll excess dough to cut more donuts.
Creating Holes:
Use a bottle cap to create holes in the center of each donut.
Second Rise:
Let the shaped donuts rise for another 30 minutes.
Cover them with cling wrap during the rise.
Frying the Donuts
Frying Process:
Add the donuts to hot oil.
Flip the donut after 1 minute.
Cook for another minute on the other side until golden brown.
Drying:
Place the fried donuts on a drying rack to remove excess oil.
Finishing
Coating:
Combine sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
Dunk the hot donuts in the sugar and cinnamon mixture to coat them evenly.
