Palaces

Mycenaean cities were ruled by Kings that lived in Palaces. They usually feature:

  • Megaron (room with an entrance porch, front room, hearth, and vestibule)

    • the hearth was a circular stone area where a fire would be lit for cooking and religious purposes

    • place for the King’s throne

    • place for feasts and poetry reciting

  • Colonnades

  • Shrines

  • Rooms for official documents

  • Storerooms (contain food)

  • Armouries

However there’s not much information because of the very limited evidence that’s salvageable
