Matter- is anything that has mass and occupies space

Atom- The smallest functional units of matter that form all chemical substances

Element- one of a type of atom (on the periodic table)

Molecule- More than one atom (O2 or H2O)

Compound- made of two or more elements (H22O)

Protons- Positive; found in nucleus; Atomic Number

Neutrons- Neutral; found in nucleus of atom; atomic weight

Electrons- Negative; found in orbitals; determine bonding
