  • add one quote sandwich from literary criticism to the end of each body paragraph

  • your literary criticisms should come from at least two separate literary criticism essays

What Makes a Quote From a Literary Criticism Good?

  1. You understand what it means

  2. It supports the argument in your topic sentence AND/OR it builds on/supports your quote analysis

  3. It is neither very short nor very lengthy

  4. It is written by the literary critic who wrote the essay (not a quote from another literary critic or a quote from 1984)

  5. It is not a rhetorical question

  6. It presents an argument (not a summary of 1984)
