Accessing Course Materials

  • Cengage Account Requirement: Students must create a Cengage account as it contains necessary eBooks and instructional materials.

    • Cengage accounts can be accessed via the module in the course setup.

  • Access Instructions: Student login requires:

    • SUS email and password.

    • Following provided steps for account creation.

  • Specific Software Access for Mac Users: Additional resources are available for students using Mac devices.

Project Instructions: Creating a Flyer

  • Project Objective: Students will create and modify a flyer, with explicit instructions given through step-by-step guidance.

  • Purpose of Flyers: Flyers serve as simple advertisement tools for various announcements or services (e.g., events, lost pets, business openings).

Step-by-Step Guide for the Flyer

  1. Preparation: Ensure all students have the necessary software and access to course materials.

    • Split screen suggested for effective guidance during project completion.

  2. Software Access: Steps to access Microsoft Word:

    • Options include accessing through Outlook or university libraries.

    • All Southern University students have free access to Microsoft 365 using their SUS email and password.

  3. Creating the Document

    • Start by creating a blank document in Word.

    • Matching layout and format as per the example is crucial.

    • The document must be adjusted further in steps explaining how to set up margins, adjust settings, and enter text.

  4. Understanding Document Layout

    • Clicking on "View" to check document layout settings and ensuring it is in a print layout.

    • Adjusting margins by navigating to the "Layout" tab and choosing the narrow margin option.

  5. Entering and Formatting Text

    • Type specified texts as outlined in the instructions. Example: "Wash your hands!"
