Child Abuse and Neglect
- Definition: Acts by a caregiver resulting in harm or threat to a child.
Types of Abuse:
- Commission: Deliberate actions causing harm (e.g., physical, sexual, psychological abuse).
- Omission: Failure to meet a child's basic needs (e.g., neglect).
- Physical Abuse: Willful injury, like punching or shaking.
- Psychological/Emotional Abuse: Hardest to define; includes ridicule and excessive criticism.
- Sexual Abuse: Adult exploitation for sexual stimulation.
- Neglect: Failing to provide adequate food, emotional care, or education.
Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse
- Ensure child safety, provide counseling, address substance abuse, and perform law-enforcement evaluations.
Prevention Measures:

- Awareness programs about child abuse.
