Recitation Points System

  • Points: 100, 250, 350, 500, 600
  • Grades:
    • 100-250 → 80
    • 251-350 → 83
    • 351-500 → 86
    • 501-600 → 89
    • 601-850 → 92
    • 851-950 → 95
    • 951-1200/1201-1500 → 98-100

Child Abuse and Neglect

  • Definition: Acts by a caregiver resulting in harm or threat to a child.
Types of Abuse:
  • Commission: Deliberate actions causing harm (e.g., physical, sexual, psychological abuse).
  • Omission: Failure to meet a child's basic needs (e.g., neglect).

Forms of Child Abuse
  1. Physical Abuse: Willful injury, like punching or shaking.
  2. Psychological/Emotional Abuse: Hardest to define; includes ridicule and excessive criticism.
  3. Sexual Abuse: Adult exploitation for sexual stimulation.
  4. Neglect: Failing to provide adequate food, emotional care, or education.

Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse
  • Ensure child safety, provide counseling, address substance abuse, and perform law-enforcement evaluations.
Prevention Measures:
  1. Support groups for parenting skills.
  2. Home visits by nurses or social workers.
  3. Education on "good touch-bad touch".
  4. Awareness programs about child abuse.

Effects of Child Abuse
  1. Isolation from peers.
  2. Feeling responsible for the abuse.
  3. Helplessness.
