Group Project Guidelines for Pamphlet on Preschool Development

Group Project Overview

  • Objective: Create a pamphlet for parents regarding preschool-age children.
  • Format: An 8x11 page trifold consisting of six panels.
  • Theme: Communicate developmental expectations for preschool children.

Key Components of the Pamphlet

  • Milestones:
    • Include developmental milestones that are relevant to preschool-age children.
    • Utilize Erikson’s developmental stages and explain them in layman's terms, avoiding medical jargon for clarity.
  • Appropriate Toys:
    • Highlight toys suitable for preschool children that encourage development and play.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Include information on safety measures important for the preschool age group.
  • Nutrition:
    • Discuss nutritional requirements for preschoolers, along with examples.
    • Reference previous presentations, like the dietary plate example.
  • Exercise and Play:
    • Emphasize the role of physical activity in the developmental process.
  • Dedicated Illness Panel:
    • One panel must explain an illness that is appropriate to the age group and shouldn’t be a common ailment like cold or flu.
    • Example: Discuss Crohn's disease, particularly as symptoms may first appear in teenagers, and provide clarity on symptoms to watch for.
  • Explanation Guidelines:
    • The illness panel requires a thorough explanation; other panels can combine topics or be tripled up as necessary.

Research Requirements

  • Resource Criteria:
    • Only utilize scholarly resources from websites ending in .org or .edu.
    • Google Scholar is recommended for accessing scholarly articles.
    • The Garnett eLibrary is also an approved source for resources.
