basic
1. Big Bang (Scientific)
Big Bang Theory, The scientific explanation for how the universe began, 13.8 billion years ago the universe started as a tiny hot dense point, it expanded quickly, cooled down, and formed stars and planets.
Time, It happened approximately 13.8 billion years ago.
Expansion, The universe started as a hot, dense point and expanded rapidly.
Matter, As it cooled, matter formed stars, planets, and galaxies.
2. Evolution (Scientific)
Evolutionary Theory, The scientific explanation for how living things change and develop, organisms change over millions of years, developing from earlier life forms through small changes.
Time, It takes place over millions of years, not overnight.
Development, All species developed from earlier, simpler forms of life.
Survival, Small changes build up that help an organism survive in its environment.
3. Cosmological (Philosophical)
Cosmological Argument, A philosophical argument about the origin of the universe, it argues that everything has a cause, therefore the universe must have a "First Cause" (God) that started everything.
Cause, Everything that exists must have a cause (like a tree from a seed).
The Universe, The universe cannot cause itself or come from nothing.
First Cause, Thomas Aquinas argued there must be a "First Cause" (God) to start it all.
4. Teleological (Philosophical)
Teleological Argument, A philosophical argument about the design and purpose of the world, it argues that the universe is so complex it must have a designer (God), because everything appears to have been made for a specific purpose.
Complexity, The universe is too complicated to have happened by chance (like the human eye).
Purpose, Everything seems to have been designed for a specific "end" or reason.
The Designer, If there is a design, there must be a designer, which believers say is God (William Paley's Watchmaker).
