Converting by the Sword

Forced conversions in Christianity, highlighted by Charlemagne’s mandate, emerged alongside the rise of Christian kingship after Constantine. Although some conversions occurred, many were nominal, with significant resistance from monotheistic groups. Over time, Christianity transitioned to a focus on voluntary conversion and personal faith, rendering forced conversions unacceptable today.
