History and Succession of the Al Khalifa Dynasty in Bahrain

Origins and the Conquest of Bahrain

The Al Khalifa dynasty, the current ruling family of Bahrain, traces its heritage to the Utub tribe of Nejd. Historically, the family migrated from the Nejd region to the Zubarah district situated in the Qatar Peninsula. The establishment of their rule over Bahrain began with Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who conquered the territory in the year 17831783.
