Vriend v. Alberta is a landmark case in Canadian law that addressed the issue of discrimination based on sexual orientation. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled that the exclusion of sexual orientation from the Alberta Individual Rights Protection Act violated the equality rights guaranteed under Section 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
