Closed systems

Earth is considered a closed system because it doesn’t exchange matter with its surroundings.

Isolated systems do not exchange matter or energy and as far as we know the only true isolated system is the universe

Any system can be categorised into one of these four the atmosphere being anything in the air, the geosphere being the things in the ground, the hydro sphere being things in the water and the biosphere being living things.

Earths system

There’s the soil which is a part of the geosphere and it helps the plant grow

There’s the plant which is the biosphere

There’s the water which is the hydrosphere and helps the plant grow

There’s the carbon in the air which is the atmosphere and helps the plant grow
