Key prohibitions:
Do not recap needles by hand: This increases the risk of injury.
Do not remove needles from syringes by hand: Requires specialized handling to prevent injury.
Do not bend, break, or manipulate needles: Must be handled in their intended use to reduce risk.

Immediate Disposal: Always discard needles and syringes into a sharps container right after use, regardless of contamination status.
DO NOT:
Discard sharps into regular trash or biological waste.
Ensure sharps containers are filled to three quarters full only.
Closing the Container: When the container is three fourths full, it should be closed securely.
Medical Waste Manifest: Complete one and schedule a pickup with risk management and safety.
Acquisition of Containers: Obtain sharps containers from the scientific supply store on campus.
