Classification of Fungi
- Based on Mode of Nutrition:
- Saprophytic: Obtain nutrition from dead organic substances (e.g., Rhizopus, Penicillium, and Aspergillus).
- Parasitic: Feed on living plants or animals (e.g., Taphrina and Puccinia).
- Symbiotic: Mutually beneficial relationships, such as Lichens (algae and fungi) or Mycorrhiza (fungi and plant roots).
- Based on Spore Formation:
- Zygomycetes: Formed by cell fusion; sexual spores are zygospores, asexual are sporangiospores (e.g., Mucor).

- Basidiomycetes: Includes mushrooms; sexual reproduction via basidiospores (e.g., Agaricus).
