Forces
- A force is a push or pull
- Forces cause objects to change speed or stretch/squash an object
- Forces can work being in contact with each other or at a distance
- The unit for forces is newtons (N)
- All forces are vector quantities
Resultant Force
- Resultant force is the measure of how unbalanced the forces are
- If the forces are balanced it is 0 and the object is moving at a constant speed
- If the forces are unbalanced the speed will change and it will accelerate in the direction of the resultant force
- If the resultant force is acting backwards the object will decelerate
