  1. people: the most difficult to change, and the most complex part of any info system

    • diverse stakeholders: ppl will have differing info needs/preferences based on the roles that they play

    • culture: info flow is linked the ways that ppl interact and the values that they have

    • political forces: the distribution of power in an org has a big impact on info access/use

  2. business processes

    stakeholder: anyone who has an interest in an existing or proposed info system (owners, users, designers, and builders)

    • systems analyst: a special type of stakeholder who needs to know what tech can do and what the biz needs


skills of a systems analyst

    • general problem-solving skills

    • flexibility and adaptability

  • good communication skills
