Lifestyle of the TrekBoers
Most Trek-Boers were poor and lived simple lives. The made most of the things they needed.
The bought gunpowder, guns, tea, coffee, sugar and cotton cloth from travelling traders (smous) who visited the area once or twice a year.
The traded cattle, sheep and animal skins for these tools.
They moved often and did not plant crops
They were nomadic
they had large families
Education
Trekboers were not educated.
Their children did not go to school.
Families were isolated and were self reliant.
