Dont know how to reply question

When faced with a question you don't know how to answer, especially on technical or specialized topics.  it's a great opportunity to demonstrate professionalism and good communication skills. 

• If i completely dont know the answer

  • “That's a great question, but I'm not familiar with the specifics of that. I'd need to look that up to give you an accurate answer.”

• If i read about it but cant remember

  • General information with a caveat

    • “While I've read about similar emergency protocols, I don't want to provide a speculative answer. For the most precise information, I would consult the official flight manual or a certified training document."

  • Offering to Find the Information: 

    • "I recall reading about some of the unique features of the aircraft, but I can't remember the exact details. I can look it up and get back to you with the correct information."

Examples for specific type of questions

• Emergency/Scenario

  • “That’s a very interestesing emergency scenario. While i have general undesstanding about (another emergency but related to this), i do not know exactly what i would do for this scenario. But I will consult the official flight manual for the precise steps and SOP to follow”

• Aircraft related questions

  • “I do not have the exact information about (XXX), but i will look it up in the aircraft technical documents and get back to you about it”

• SIA related questions

  • “That’s a very interesting question and tbh, i do not know about (XXX), I will try to look it up in the (SIA source) about it and get back to you”
