Formal Commands (Ud. and Uds.)

Formation of Affirmative Formal Commands:

• Step 1: Start with the "yo" form of the verb in the present tense.
• Step 2: Drop the "o" ending from the yo form.
• Step 3: Add the opposite Ud. ending:
  • For -ar verbs, add "e" (Ud.) or "en" (Uds.).
  • For -er and -ir verbs, add "a" (Ud.) or "an" (Uds.).
• Note: This formation is the same as negative informal commands.

Examples:

-car, -gar, -zar Verbs:

• After putting the verb into the yo form, apply the following changes:
  • c → qu
  • g → gu
  • z → c

• Irregular forms for Ud. and Uds. commands must be memorized.

Examples:

Formation of Negative Formal Commands:

• To form negative Ud. & Uds. commands, simply place "no" in front of the affirmative command form.
