SECTION 07 52 00 - SBS MODIFIED BITUMINOUS MEMBRANE ROOFING

1. GENERAL
  • Scope of Work: Installation of roofing materials purchased by Pomona Unified School District (PUSD) at Diamond Ranch High School over properly prepared substrates.
  • Materials: Items in bold italics provided by District, other items to be furnished by Contractor; all materials by The Garland Company.
1.01 DECKING REQUIREMENTS
  • Inspection: Inspect decking and alert inspector of discrepancies.
  • Installation:
  • For decks without insulation: Mechanically fasten red rosin and HPR Type II base sheet.
  • For decks with insulation: Use red rosin, then insulation, followed by ¼” DensDeck Prime.
1.02 ROOFING ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
  1. Drainage: Ensure all drains are functional before roofing; document any issues.
  2. Roof Hatch Replacement: Use BILCO model S-20 compliant with NRCA. Match existing dimensions.
  3. Asphalt Installation:
  • Install Stressbase 80 hot asphalt (20% pre-consumer recycled content).
  • Install flashings with StressPly E and other products per LEED standards.
1.03 SEALING AND COATING
  • Penetrations and Vents: Seal with KEE-Lock mastic.
  • Cool-Sil Coating: Required reflective coating per Title 24 specifications.
1.04 SHEET METAL WORK
  • Responsibilities: Roofing contractor to install sheet metal work including gutters, downspouts, edge flashing, and access accessories.
  • Installation Standards: Conform to ASCE 7-16 and ANSI/SPRI ES1.
1.05 ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Weather Limitations: Do not apply roofing during inclement weather or with rain forecasted.
  • Debris Management: Maintain cleanliness on site and ensure proper disposal of materials.
2. PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS
  • Materials Overview: Roofing systems provided by The Garland Company.
  • Warranty: Manufacturer to provide a 30-year No Dollar Limit warranty on labor and materials.
3. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Examination: Ensure substrates are ready; document any unsuitable conditions.
  • Heat Application: Use appropriate heating methods for asphalt; do not exceed temperature limits.
3.01 CUT-OFFS AND WATERSTOPS
  • Protection: Protect exposed edges of incomplete work using organic felt and sealant.
3.05 CLEANING
  • Site Cleanliness: Remove roofing material residue and follow manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
3.06 FINAL INSPECTION
  • Inspections by Authorities: Conduct post-roofing inspections and address identified issues promptly.
