Reproduction

Reproduction the ability of an organism to produce new individuals is one of the characteristics that distinguish living things from non-living things.

Two types of Reproduction:

Asexual Reproduction It is the creation of a new organism from a single or one parent and does not involve the combination of gametes or sex cells.

Asexual Reproduction are not for human being and animals.

Types of Asexual Reproduction:

Spore formation is a type of asexual reproduction where organism reproduce by forming spores.

Spores are the single-called reproductive unit of flowering.

Ex: Mushroom

Budding a new organism is formed from an outgrowth from the parent.

Ex: Hydra, Yeast

Fission an organism grows and duplicates its genetic material the divides into two.

“Split or divide”

Ex: SEA ANEMONES, BACTERIA, STARFISH

Fragmentation It happens when new organisms grows from a fragment of the parent.

Ex: Starfish

Regenation It occurs when a body part is detached from the parent. This part grows and develop into a completely new individual.

Ex: Starfish

Lizard born through egg.

Vegetative Propagation It is a method wherein new plants are obtained from the parts of old plants like stems, roots and leaves without the use of any reproductive parts.

Ex: strawberry, squash, Onion

Sexual Reproduction It is the type of reproduction that involves two parents and combination of gametes (sex cells) to produce a new organism.

Sexual Reproduction:

FERTILIZATION > ZYGOTE > EMBRYO

Sexual Reproduction:

Sperm cell is for mens

Egg cell is for women
