  3. renal artery

  4. renal vein

MAJOR VESSELS - PULMONARY CIRCUIT

pulmonary artery: takes deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs

pulmonary vein: brings oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium

MAJOR VESSELS - SYSTEMIC CIRCUIT

aorta: largest artery - brings blood (oxygenated) to major regions of the body from the left ventricle

carotid artery: takes blood to the head from aorta

mesenteric artery: blood to intestines from aorta

renal arteries: blood to kidneys from aorta

iliac arteries: blood to lower body from aorta

superior vena cava: largest vein - collects blood from head and upper body. blood enters the right atrium

inferior vena cava: largest vein - collects blood from lower body. blood enters the right atrium

renal vein: returns blood to vena cava from kidneys

hepatic portal vein: connects the intestines to the liver. carries nutrient rich blood to the liver for processing

hepatic vein: returns blood to vena cava from the liver

iliac veins: return blood to vena cava from lower body
