Types of Ethical Issues in Business
Bribery
Offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting something of value to influence an official's action in their public or legal duties. It also involves consideration given to an employee by an external party to transact business favorably with that party or their firm.
Coercion
Involves the threat of using power against a disadvantaged party. It is a form of accommodation carried out with an element of compulsion (physical/psychological) where one party is weaker than the other, such as in cases of slavery.
Deception
An act of fraud or deceit intended to mislead through false words or actions, knowingly and willingly making false statements or actions.
Theft
The act of taking something that does not belong to you.
Unfair Discrimination
Unfair treatment or denial of normal privileges to individuals based on race, age, sex, nationality, or religion.
