fascism: the autocracy or dictatorship where all the power remains vested in one man only.
causes for the rise of fascism:
1. discontenment after the treaty of versailles: majorly germany, they were disrespected and had to lose a lot of their property to other people. even italy was dissatisfied because she couldnt get any part of the german and turkish colonial empire.
2. economic crisis: italy suffered heavy economic losses.
3. political instability: elections failed to give a clear result.

5. fear of rising socialism or communism
6. failure of the league of nations
7. leadership shown by mussolini: he was like the answer to their prayers and ensured that he could not only prevent the rise of socialism and communism, but also won the faith of his countrymen. he was regarded as the duce.
causes for the rise of nazism:
humiliating treaty of versailles: germany was treated very badly and regarded as criminals
growing fear of communism
economic crsis in germany
resurgence of militant nationalism: they loved their own coutnry and hated all other coutnries. when hitler promised them their glory, they welcomed him with open arms.
anti semitic propoganda: hitler was anti jewish

charismatic personality of hitler

to have faith in totalitarian rule
to despise democratic political systems
to uphold one party and one political sysrem
to believe in agressive nationalism and imperialism
