members in the 18-35 age group make up almost 25% of the registry today
doctors request donors in the 18-35 age group nearly 80% of the time
while members 25 and olders wait an average of 4-6 years before they match, members in the 18-24 age group wait an average of 1-3 years
13% of members in the 18-24 age group are called as a match in less than one year — twice the rate of members 25 and older
the leading reason that members who match are unavailable to donate in simply because we cannot reach them (-46%)
awareness and interest in joining:
are students aware of NMDP? source of awareness?
how likely are students to register as potential donors? why?
for students who have chosen not to register, what drove this decision? would anything chainge their minds?
engagement and building trust:
how can NMDP keep students engaged after they register? what do they want to see from NMDP?
what kind of information or content would help students trust NMDP if they were identified as a match?
overcoming barriers to donation:
if identified as a match, what barriers (taking time off, lack of support, health concerns, etc.) might influence their decision to donate?
how can NMDP help them address their concerns to overcome potential barriers?
you can only donate twice in a life time
need more ethnicities
have the recommitment message that goes out every couple years. need to figure out how people can pay attention to their emails when being spammed with others.
california is #1 in donors in the US.
because of csuf university, its a good rep for the state as a whole. csuf is a good sample for a report
70-75% of people register in person. its a longer process to register online because they have to wait for the cheek swap test to arrive and sometimes they forget to send it back. so they never get on the list.
