Equation and inequalities.
Equation- A problem that contains an equal sign.
Inequality.-A problem that contains these signs {,,<,>,}
Inverse operations-Operations that undo each other; -/+ X/
Identity- Any equation that uses more than one variable and asks you to solve for one of them. ex)3x=3x
Grouping symbols- The math inside any and all grouping symbols. First, inside the grouping symbol, you also follow order. These include; ( ), { }, [ ], | |, !, square root
Exponents.- Then work out any exponents that can be solved.
Term -A number by itself of aerial by itself, or the multiplication of a number and variables. ex) 4, x, 3xy, 2(3xy)
multiply and divide-Do this in order from left to right.
Add and subtract-.Do this in order from left to right.
Constant.- A term with no variables. Ex) .4, 8.93, 5
Like terms- Terms with the same variables raised to the same exponent.
Expression.- A problem with no equal or inequality sign.
Coefficient- the numerical factor of the variable. A variable by itself has a coefficient of one. ex) 1x=x
Literal equation.- An equation that uses more than one variable and asks you to solve for one of them.
Compound inequality- 2 inequalities. joined with the word “and” or the word “or”.
