FORCE Volunteer Application

My experience with hereditary cancer has been shaped by my work as a certified genetic counselor and my commitment to supporting families impacted by genetic conditions. During my training, I had the honor of counseling individuals and families navigating the complexities of hereditary cancer syndromes, explaining test results, guiding them through preventive options, and most importantly, holding space for the emotional and spiritual impact of such diagnoses. My outreach work with ConnectMyVariant was deeply rewarding and is where I first learned about FORCE and its mission, vision, and values. Additionally, my public health and community engagement efforts, including health fairs and awareness events in underserved communities, have deepened my understanding of the barriers to genetic services and the need for culturally responsive care.

I would love to become a FORCE volunteer because I believe deeply in the power of connection, education, and advocacy. I see FORCE as a meaningful space where I can continue to build my skills in these areas; skills that are not only professional interests but personal callings. FORCE’s mission aligns with my own values of compassion, empowerment, and justice. As a Muslim woman and advocate for faith-informed genetic counseling, I’m especially passionate about ensuring that individuals from minoritized or faith-based backgrounds feel seen, heard, and supported in their cancer journeys. I view this as a sacred opportunity to uplift and walk alongside others, offering not just clinical insight but human empathy, comfort, and hope. Through FORCE, I hope to contribute to a future where no one faces hereditary cancer alone and where every voice is honored in the healing process.
