  • velocity function is the derivative of the position function

  • acceleration function is the derivative of the velocity function

Laws

  • The particle’s speed is increasing when the velocity and acceleration signs are the same (either both negative or both positive) and is decreasing when the signs are different

  • The particle is moving to the right when velocity is positive and to the left when velocity is negative
