Unit 2 Cells

Nucleus : Brain ( stores dna and control cells actives )

Plasma membrane : Controlling what goes in and out ( 2 phospholipid bilayer )

Cell Wall : Plants only for protection ( hard rigid outer layer made of cellulose )

Mitochondria : powerhouse of the cells ( makes ATP ) through cellular respiration

Chloroplast : makes glucose ( photosynthesis )

Cellular Respiration : when cells break down glucose to release energy ( ADP )

Vacuoles : Storage ( membrane bound organelles )

Vacuoles ( in PLANTS ) : one large water

Vacuoles ( in ANIMALS ) : few small nutrients

Ribosomes : makes proteins

Smooth ER : makes lipids, next to nucleus

Rough ER : makes proteins, next to nucleus ( COVERED IN RIBOSOMES/ the dots around )

Golgi Apparatus : packages things into vesicles for transport ( FURTHER FROM NUCLEUS )

Lysosomes : Garbage man/ clean up ( breaks down waste and cellular debris )

Cytoplasm : The watery alike fluid that fills cells and hold organelles in place ( aqueous/ watery )

Flagella : Tail in single celled for movement

Cilia : Hair in single celled for movement
