Head and Neck

Frontalis - Raises eyebrows and wrinkles the forehead. (Think: Surprise expression!)

Orbicularis oris - Controls movements of the mouth and lips. (Think: Kissing muscle!)

Orbicularis oculi - Closes the eyelids. (Think: Blinking and winking!)

Occipitofrontalis - Moves the scalp and raises the eyebrows. (Think: Shocked face!)

Zygomaticus major - Elevates the corners of the mouth for smiling. (Think: Big smiles!)

Masseter - Primary muscle for chewing by elevating the jaw. (Think: Chomp, chomp!)

Sternocleidomastoid - Rotates and flexes the neck. (Think: Turning your head to say 'What?')

Trapezius - Moves, rotates, and stabilizes the scapula; extends the neck. (Think: Shrugging shoulders!)

Buccinator - Helps in chewing by keeping food between the teeth and also assists in blowing air. (Think: Puffed cheeks!)


Move the Upper Extremities

Pectoralis major - Moves the arm forward and across the chest. (Think: Hugging!)

Latissimus dorsi - Pulls the arms down and back. (Think: Pull-ups!)

Deltoid - Lifts the arm sideways, forward, and backward. (Think: Shoulder muscle for lifting!)

Teres major - Assists in arm movement and rotation. (Think: Helper of the latissimus dorsi!)

Biceps brachii - Flexes the elbow and rotates the forearm. (Think: Arm curls!)

Triceps brachii - Extends the elbow. (Think: Pushing movement!)

Brachialis - Assists the biceps in flexing the elbow. (Think: Powering up elbow flexion!)

Brachioradialis - Helps flex the forearm at the elbow. (Think: Quick drinks lift!)

Palmaris longus - Helps flex the wrist. (Think: Wrist control!)

Flexor carpi radialis - Flexes and abducts the wrist. (Think: Hand tilting!)

Flexor digitorum superficialis - Flexes the fingers. (Think: Gripping!)

Extensor carpi radialis - Extends and abducts the wrist. (Think: Wrist straightener!)

Extensor digitorum - Extends the fingers. (Think: Spreading fingers out!)

Extensor digiti minimi - Extends the little finger. (Think: Pinky motion!)

Extensor carpi ulnaris - Extends and adducts the wrist. (Think: Stabilizing wrist!)

Infraspinatus - Rotates the arm outward. (Think: Shoulder rotation!)

Supraspinatus - Assists in lifting the arm. (Think: First part of lifting the arm up!)

Subscapularis - Rotates the arm inward. (Think: Shoulder rotation inward!)

Teres Minor - Assists with outward arm rotation. (Think: External rotation support!)
