Vehicle Stabilization
When sizing up a vehicle think of it as either brick (older vehicle w/ square shapes) vs beach ball (newer vehicle w/ rounded frame)
Good, Better, Best approach in regards to stabilization
Stabilization steps:
Primary stabilization (wheel chock, wedges, cribbing)
Secondary stabilization (rescue 42 strut and straps)
Tertiary stabilization (consistent monitoring)
Upright vehicle:
Never assume it is stable treat it as its not
Chock wheels, wedge/crib car if needed
Put parking break on
Overturned vehicle:
Vehicle tends to lean toward the engine side, due to weight
Primary stabilization apply step cribbing or wedges to not allow the vehicle to rock
Secondary stabilization rescue 42 and straps
Vehicle on its side:
Treat it as if its very unstable
Natural lean towards roof movement can cause it to roll onto roof
