Scientific Investigations Terms:

==Observation:== the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information.


==Hypothesis:== a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.


==Experiment:== a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact.


==Theory:== A well-substantiated explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can incorporate laws, hypotheses and facts.


Uncertainty in measurements:

When you are making measurements, you always use the equipment to the best of its ability, then you guess one more digit. For example, if the equipment measured by ones, you would guess a tenth place, and if it measured by tenths, you would guess a hundred places. It is always one more.


SI Units:

^^The metric system and SI (Système International)^^ \n used for length, volume, mass, temperature, and time, in most of the world, and everywhere by scientists.

 \n In the metric and SI systems, one unit is used for each type of measurement.
