For #1 I think he initially emphasized one is more open minded than the other (open to revolutionizing changes in law and societal customs) whereas the other is less open minded (traditional in their values)

• analysis of variance - inferential statistic technique for comparing means, variances, and assessing interactions

• one-way anova - stat test of hypothesis (NHST technique) that 2 or more of a population means in an independent samples design are equal

• f distribution - theoretical sampling distribution of f values

  • f is ratio of variances calculated in 2 ways (variance of means divided by mean of variances)

  • numerator - sensitive to differences between means of different treatment levels

  • denominator - ignores differences between means and treatment levels

• anova only tells u if at least one of the groups you’re measuring are different from the others - does not tell you which one
