  • Visible Light:

    • The visible light we perceive is part of a much broader range of types of electromagnetic radiation.

    • Spectrum Includes:

Nature of Electromagnetic Waves

Luminous and Non-Luminous Objects
  • Definitions:

    • Luminous Objects: Objects that emit (produce) light.

    • Non-Luminous Objects: Objects that do not produce their own light but reflect light or allow light to pass through them.

    • Examples: The Moon, a desk, a window, an apple.

Interaction of Light with Non-Luminous Objects
  • Non-luminous objects are visible because light from luminous objects reflects off them and enters our eyes.

  • Types of Non-Luminous Objects:

    1. Transparent: Allow almost all light to pass through, enabling clear visibility through the material.

    • Examples: Clear glass, still shallow water.

    1. Translucent: Allow some light to pass through, but it gets scattered, making objects behind appear blurry.

    • Examples: Tissue paper, frosted glass.

    1. Opaque: Do not allow light to pass through. Light is either absorbed or reflected, preventing visibility through the material.

    • Examples: Brick, wood.

  • CFU:
