Structural / Design Considerations

Preparation Before Installation (Floor/Roof)

  • Logistics & safety

Floor/Roof Panel Installation Sequence (Typical)

  1. Unload bundles onto 4 × 4 sleepers.
  2. Snap bearing lines on supports; set wood blocks for soft landing.
  3. Attach lifting gear; remove safety chains only when clear of stack.
  4. Hoist first panel, place on bearings, release clamp; verify full tongue in groove.

Wall Panels – Overview

  • Two categories
    • Non-load-bearing (partition) panels.

  • Installation tolerances

  • Purpose: create elevated, laser-level reference for uniform mortar bed.

Temporary Bracing Requirements

AAC Masonry Blocks & Lintels

  • Blockwork follows modular coursing (8″ height typical).
  • Lintels
    • Factory U-block or site-made with rebar + grout.
    • Minimum bearing 8in8\,\text{in} each side of opening.
  • Thin-Bed joints 1/16in\approx1/16\,\text{in}; use notched trowel.
  • Corner procedure
    1. Set first course on level-bed mortar.
    2. Laser verify; set second corner; run string lines; do not tooth-out.
  • Movement joints
    • Spacing: every 20ft20\,\text{ft} in long runs, each change in plane, at lintel ends, or where restraint occurs.

Routing for Utilities

  • Vertical chases: width 1/3\le1/3 block thickness; centred.

    2. Remove waste with router; brush clean.

Casting & Grouting Operations

  • Key-joint grout: 5 ksi concrete w/ pea gravel; vibration not required (fluid).
  • Ring/bond beams: place rebar cage first; pour concrete in lifts 24in\le24\,\text{in}.
  • Shear keys between floor panels: install #4 bars continuous; grout to top.

Handling, Transport & Storage

  • Keep panels off ground on timber dunnage; max stack height = manufacturer guideline (usually 6 panels).
  • Store vertical panels on A-frames; banding only cut when panel is clamped.
  • Protect from dirt & standing water; patch chips immediately.

Quality-Control / Points-to-Check Lists
