Urbanization is defined as the increase in population in towns and cities. Urbanization occurs either by:
Natural increase - when the birthrate exceeds the death rate.
Migration - when people move from a rural area to an urban area.
Types of urban housing are:
Sub-urban housing - A residential area located outside a city
Housing estate - Houses built at the same time with the same materials that look identical
Squatter settlement - a residential area with no legal claims to the land or permission to build on the land from authorities.
Urban housing can be defined as either low income, middle income or high income. They eavh have their own characteristics.
