  1. man of action

Meaning: A person who solves problems by actions and deeds, rather than passively.

Examples:

“I strive to be a man of action, rather than words.”

“George Washington was known as a man of action.”

  1. to cast adrift

Meaning: Literally means cutting off a small boat to let the larger ship survive. Means abandoning something or someone.

Examples:

“In 1975, the US Military cut the South Vietnamese forces adrift.”

“Our team leader cut me adrift during the audit.“

  1. agree to disagree

Meaning: Accept that we cannot agree on something and stop arguing about it.

Examples:

“Let’s agree to disagree for now on this item, and focus on finishing the rest of the draft.”

“It looks like we’ll just have to agree to disagree.“

  1. ahead of the game

Meaning: superior to the competition

Examples:

“Our latest product is ahead of the game.”

“To stay on top, you need to work constantly to stay ahead of the game.”

“When it comes to drones, China is way ahead of the game.”

  1. ahead of it’s time

Meaning: Innovative according to the standard of the time.

Examples:

“While Abraham Lincoln was ahead of his time, he would be considered racist by today’s standards.”

“The Blackberry failed because it was ahead of its time.”
