Lophotrochozoa Characteristics
Defined by two main features:
Trochophore Larvae: Free-living larval stage.

Single opening to the digestive cavity; food is ingested via the muscular pharynx.
Osmoregulation: Excretory system consists of a network of tubules with flame cells managing excretion through the epidermal pores.

Free-living: Turbellaria, including common planarians such as Dugesia used in laboratories.
Parasitic: Neodermata, which includes:
Trematoda (Flukes): Such as Clonorchis sinensis, affecting multiple hosts.
Cercomeromorpha (Tapeworms): Including the beef tapeworm, Taenia saginata, which utilizes a scolex for attachment.
