Bias

Definition: A bias is when someone shows a one-sided opinion. It can be good (favoring someone) or bad (against someone).

Examples:

  • An employer choosing a man over a better woman candidate shows bias against women.

  • A class president defending a friend even when she is wrong shows bias toward his friend.

Prejudice

Definition: Prejudice is an opinion made without knowing enough facts. It often includes wrong ideas or assumptions.

Examples:

  • Not voting for someone because of their education shows prejudice.

  • Thinking that young people are careless or old people are weak is a common prejudice.
