Transition Challenges

  • It is normal to miss family, friends, and loved ones when going to a new and unfamiliar place.

  • It is good to stay connected with people back Home, but you must be invested in the present moment and location the God has placed you 

  • The key to handle homesickness is relying on God 


Managing Transitions: Tips

  • Isolation intensifies homesickness

  • Share updates with home but notary invested in your present environment.

  • Schedule regular calls but avoid non-stop texting.

  • Do not enter the traps of comparison.

  • Focas on serving others rather than focusing on self.

  • Remember the adjustment takes time.

  • Your sense of “home” is strongest when your identity is in Christ

 Learning Styles

  • Learning styles are the different ways people take in and process information.

  • Four main learning styles (VARK)

    • Visual 

    • Aura 

    • Read/Write 

    • Kinesthetic

  • God designed each of us to prefer to learn in different ways.

  • Use the method that helps you best but stretch yourself to grow in other styles.

  • You need to study in a way that’s plays to your strengths and preferences

  • Your preferred learning style is not the only way you can learn 

  • It is not your teacher's responsibility to accommodate your preferred learning style

  • Success comes from God, not your learning style 


VARK

  1. Visual - charts, diagrams, images, and color

  2. Aural - listening and speaking

  3. Read/Write - text-based i put and output

  4. Kinesthetic - practice, experience, and movement
