  1. Job- This is work you mainly do to earn money

  2. Career- a commitment to work in a field you find interesting and fulfilling

  3. Standard of Living- a measure of quality based on the amounts and kinds of goods and services a person can buy

  4. Trends- these are developments that mark changes in a particular area such as career choices or declining a promotion

  5. Potential earning power- the amount of money you may earn over time

  6. Aptitudes- natural abilities that people possess. 

  7. Interest inventories- tests that help you identify the activities that you enjoy the most

  8. Demographic Trends- tendencies that people grouped by age, gender, ethnicity, education, or income that change over time

  9. Geographic Trends- these are tendencies of people to move from one area of the country to another

  10. Service Industries- businesses that provide services for a fee

  11. Internship- its a position where a person receives training by working with people who are experienced in a particular field

  12. Cooperative Education- program that allows students to enhance classroom learning with part time work related to their interests

  13. Networking- this is a way of making and using contacts to get job info and advice 

  14. Resume- a 1 or 2 page summary of your education, training, experience, and qualifications 

  15. Cover Letter- is a personal letter you present along with your resume

  16. Cafeteria Style Employee Benefits- this allows workers to choose the benefits that best meets their needs

  17. Pension Plan- a retirement plan funded a least in part by an employer

  18. Mentor- an experienced employee who serves as a teacher or a less experienced person
