Claim of Fact Essay

Thesis: Book banning is stopping the diversification of the knowledge of, specifically, children - who have to grow up one day to be in a diverse world.

Antithesis: Book bans is protecting children from topics their parents may want to shelter them from, such as LGBTQ+ perspectives or perspectives from different religions. This could be against their parenting styles and cause problems within the home.

Three reasons:

  • If we allow any person with bias to ban books, then we will eventually end up with no books to read because it's a possibility that the two sides will never come to a common ground
  • Books is our way of gaining different perspectives from lives that we will never be able to live, those perspectives should not be silenced because of the disagreement with the lifestyle
  • Banning of books will stop the diversification of knowledge among people and will cause more and more separation between different groups of people who will never have a way to learn about or at least look from the perspective of someone who opposes them
