Atmosphere
What is the atmosphere?
The atmosphere is like a big bubble of transparent air that surrounds earth. there are 4 main layers of the atmosphere
Definition: The troposphere is the layer closest to Earth, about 10 km thick and holding roughly 75% of the atmosphere’s mass; above it is the stratosphere, which begins around 10 km above sea level and contains the ozone layer that absorbs harmful UV radiation. Higher up lies the mesosphere, a very cold layer 50–85 km above Earth where most meteors burn up, and above that is the thermosphere, a very hot layer stretching from about 90–600 km where auroras appear and the International Space Station orbits.
What is the air made of?
In the air that we breathe it contains of 78% nitrogen being the most common gas in the air, 21% being oxygen, 0.03%being carbon dioxide, and 0.97% being other gases.
The layer of the atmosphere where the air is thicker is the troposphere.
The atmosphere and human activity
In the atmosphere many things happen like when humans use the atmosphere to travel quickly in planes, the air we breathe is a very important thing we do in the atmosphere, many hobbies are done in the atmosphere like parachuting, hang-gliding, and even kite flying.
