Contraception

contraception-method to prevent conception/pregnancy

For contraception

  • allah would no give test that you cannot cope with

Qur’an-’No one should be burdened with more than they can bear.’

illsutrates that there are times that contraception is perssimable e.g. contrraception used to space out children.

  • contraception may protect the life of the mother

due to allah’s benevolence is some cases contraception may be accepted as allah would want to preserve that womens life

  • prophet muhammad disliked but still allowed contraception to take place coitus interruptus (withdrawal of penis before ejaculation).

Against contraception

  • the prophet muhammad had children

Qur’an-’made for them wives and offspring’

demonstrates that as prophet muhammad is seen as role model for muslims, muslims should follow his example of having children thus making muslims against contraception

  • muslims should have allah decide whether or not they have a family

qur’an-’he creates what he wills’

illustrates that allah is the one who decides whether or not muslims should have a children so methods such as contraception should be avoided as it can interfere  allah’s decision

  • contraception could be seen as early abortion which is unacceptable

qur’an-’Do not kill your children for fear of poverty'.’

demonstrates that families should not use contraception as way of not having children because of fear but they should still have children as allah says he will provide for not only them but also their kids thus making contraception unnecessary when allah promises to provide.
