Bella Stellaria Episodium IV: Nova Spes Summary

Setting: A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Context: A civil war is taking place.
Conflict: The rebellion attempts to overcome the evil Galactic Empire.
Plot Points:
- Princess Leia, a leader of the rebellion, has stolen the schematics (plans/blueprints) of the Death Star.
- Darth Vader, leader of the Empire's army, pursues her in a large starship.
- Leia's small starship is captured by Vader near the planet Tatooine.
- Before being captured, Leia puts the schematics and a holographic message into the droid RII-DII.
- RII-DII is sent by Leia to Tatooine with his companion droid C-IIIP0.
- Leia is captured by Stormtroopers and taken to Vader.

Character Introduction:
- A young man living on Tatooine.
- His parents are dead.
- He lives with his uncle (father's brother), Owen, and his wife, Beru.
- Owen is a water farmer, so Lucas is also a water farmer.
Lucas's Aspirations:
- He doesn't want to be a water farmer.
- He wants to become a hero, see new things, and fight against the Galactic Empire.

Discovery of the Message:
- Lucas discovers a holographic message in RII-DII.
- A woman says, "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope."
- Lucas wonders who Obi-Wan is, knowing only the old Ben Kenobi.
RII's Departure:
- RII-DII leaves Lucas's home at night, seeking Obi-Wan Kenobi.
- Lucas follows RII into the desert.
Attack and Rescue:
- Lucas is attacked by Sand People.
- Ben Kenobi saves him.

Identity Revealed:
- Lucas says he's looking for Obi-Wan.
- Ben reveals that he is Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Meeting with Luke:
- Obi-Wan takes Lucas to his home and tells him about Princess Leia, the Jedi, and Lucas's father.
- Lucas learns his father was a Jedi who was killed by Darth Vader.
- Lucas is astonished by this revelation.
The Lightsaber:

- The Millennium Falcon flies to Alderaan.
The Force:
- During the journey, Obi-Wan teaches Lucas about the Vīs (Force).
- Obi-Wan: "illa Vis est in omnibus et circum omnia," inquit Obi-Wan, “illa Vis iungit (joins together) omnia, et potestatem Jediīs dat.” ("the Force is in all and around all", the Force joins everything together and gives power to the Jedi).
- Obi-Wan also teaches Lucas how to defend himself, using the Force and the lightsaber.
Arrival at Alderaan:
- Arriving at Alderaan, they find the planet destroyed.
- They then see a small moon.

Discovery:
- Han Solo says, "illa non est luna" ("that is not a moon").
- Coming closer, they see it is the Death Star, which destroyed Alderaan.
Capture:
- The Millennium Falcon is captured and pulled into the Death Star.

Escape to Yavin IV:
- Escaping from the Death Star, everyone flies in the Millennium Falcon to the Rebellion's base.
- The Rebellion's base is located on the moon Yavin IV.
The Death Star's Pursuit:
- The Death Star follows them to Yavin IV.
Leia's Plan:
- Leia tells everyone about an opening on the side of the Death Star.
- If they can send a missile through this opening, the Death Star will be destroyed.
The Death Star's Arrival:
- While Leia is teaching, the Death Star itself arrives!
- Everyone runs to the starships to defend the base.
Lucas's Decision:
- Lucas also runs to a starship.
- Lucas wants Han Solo to attack the Death Star with him, but Han refuses.
- Lucas becomes angry when Han leaves.
The X-Wing:
- Lucas, with RII-DII, gets into a starship called an "X-Alam" (X-Wing).
- Many X-Wings fly from the moon into the sky, preparing to attack the Death Star.

The Trench Run:
- There is a trench on the side of the Death Star through which they must fly to reach the opening.
- Lucas enters the trench with two X-Wings.
- While flying through the trench toward the opening, one of the starships is destroyed.
Darth Vader's Pursuit:
- Darth Vader, in his TIE-Interceptor, follows the X-Wings.
- Vader destroys the other X-Wing with Lucas.
- Now Lucas is alone, flying in the trench.
Lucas's Struggle:
- Lucas tries to send the missile, but Vader attacks him, preventing him from doing so.
- Vader has Lucas in his weapon sights.
- Lucas's X-Wing is about to be destroyed by Vader!
- Vader says, "tē nunc habeō" ("I have you now").
Han Solo's Return:
- Suddenly, Vader is hit by a weapon and ejected from the trench.
- Lucas is saved by Han Solo, who returned and attacked Vader!
Victory:
- With Vader gone, Lucas is now safe and prepares to send the missile.
- As he prepares to send the missile, Lucas suddenly hears a voice.
- "ūtere Vī, Lūcās," dīxit vōx Obī-Wān Kenobīī. ("Use the Force, Lucas," said the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi.)
- Lucas, closing his eyes and using the Force (Vī ūtēns), sends the missile, which goes through the opening.
- Everyone escapes.
- The Death Star is destroyed. The Rebels are victorious!
Celebration:
- After the battle, Lucas and Han are given medals (encolpia) by Leia.
- "RWRWRWRAAAAWRWRWRRR!" Chewbacca shouts.
