Levalbuterol

Class: SABA (Short-Acting Beta-2 Agonist)
Onset of Action: 10-15 minutes
Duration of Action: 4-6 hours
Dosage: 0.63 mg administered
Doses can be given 3 times daily
Indications:
Asthma
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
Respiratory infections
Side Effects / Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs):
Nervousness
Tremors
Tachycardia (not as frequent as with albuterol)
Contraindications:
Do not use if allergic to levalbuterol

Class: LABA (Long-Acting Beta-2 Agonist)
Onset of Action: 20 minutes
Duration of Action: 12 hours
Dosage: 50 mcg per puff
Indications:
Reversible bronchospasm due to asthma
Side Effects / Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs):
Tachycardia
Tremors
Nervousness
Sore throat
Laryngitis
Contraindications:
Do not use if allergic to Salmeterol
Note: LABAs should not be used as a sole treatment for asthma but rather in conjunction with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) to reduce the risk of asthma exacerbations.
Important Considerations:
Monitor for atorvastatin effects in patients, particularly those who have underlying heart conditions.
